Cognos Data Modules teaches the data modeling process using the Cognos new interface. It teaches the Framework methodology using Data Modules The IBM Cognos Analytics v11.1.x platform is a departure from v11.0 and a major change from IBM Cognos BI v10.2.2 and its earlier ancestors through the 34-year evolution of the Cognos (1983) reporting and analysis environment.

In its current form, Cognos Analytics 11.x provides an enterprise level, comprehensive, integrated reporting, dashboarding, and story boarding solution. It enables and empowers users to collect and analyze data, perform segmentation and local modeling, and create targeted analysis using a robust set of reporting, dash boarding, storytelling, and data modeling analytic tools.

The data modeling part of the platform is the focus of this course. The Cognos Analytics modeling tool is departure from the more traditional modeling applications such as Framework Manager, Cognos Cube Designer, and Cognos Transformer. Cognos Data Modules are a web-based data acquisition, blending, and modeling feature intended to supplement to models created with the traditional modeling tool. And, in certain circumstances it offers a replacement capability to those tools for BI/IT data modeling needs.You will be learning the process previously taught in Framework Manager and revising it to work with Data Modules.
