Description
Cognos Analytics Essentials teaches you the Essentials of Cognos Analytics, As a result, you will learn the essentials of how to prepare your data so it can be used in Reporting. The reporting component will teach you the essentials of report creation. After this you will learn the essential of administering the Cognos environment. We’ve condensed 2 weeks of training into 4 days. We’ve left the essentials so you the student can then decide which area you would then wish to pursue.
The main tools you will learn are: Framework manager, Analytics reporting and Administration.
Framework Manager
In Framework Manager, you create a project which includes all the metadata which will meet the needs of the business users. The result of this process will be a package (or packages) that your report authors will use to create their reports. As a result, when users run the report, the model will generate the correct SQL statement to answer your business questions.
Analytics Reporting
Reporting allows your report authors to create, edit, and distribute a wide range of professional reports. Consequently, reports you create are in a single integrated Reporting window. As a result, there is no need for you to change or use additional browser windows to create, review, or administer content. The legacy “studio” concept however is gone except for legacy tools which may be exposed as Companion applications. The authoring tools you have available will depend on the Cognos capabilities assigned to the signed-in user. As a result, each student will be able to use the tool that can be geared to their job role.
Administration
IBM Cognos Administration is a central management Web-based interface that contains the administrative tasks for IBM Cognos Analytics. It provides you with easy access to most aspects of the overall management of the IBM Cognos Analytics environment. As a result, this will teach you how to keep your system running smoothly.
