Administration

Cognos Analytics11 Administration is a 2 day class with a multi-installation lab environment.

Configuration:

This is the course that will teach you how to monitor and configure the Cognos environment. This is high-tech stuff. It will also teach you how to do the Cognos installation, whether it be a single server, or multi-server environment. This course comes with the e-labs necessary to do an installation of Cognos from the beginning.

Connection

This Cognos Analytics11 Administration class will then teach you how to interface with the other software packages that need to work with Cognos so everything works together. This means using the web interface and configuring it in a configuration file. You will then set up the authentication provider that will be needed to security needed. After this, you will then also connect to a supported database that will run Cognos, and then configure a connection to a different database that will return data. 

Metrics

This course will also teach you both the necessity of establishing a performance baseline, and then monitoring so performance goals are being met.  This will be done by setting up the System Administration tools, tools which can change the behavior of the Cognos environment. Usually after an installation, the default configurations are adequate. However for those who want to understand more about what is going on “under the hood” so to speak, you can learn how the change the processor behavior, the infinity settings etc. You will be taught how to configure Cognos metrics to display the performance of the environment by displaying traffic light metrics.

Troubleshooting

When you as an administrator complete your installation, you will typically home everything works as intended. However, sometimes things go wrong. To accommodate this, You, will spend some time examining some typical things that can go wrong in your installation, and learn how to troubleshoot and fix them.
